Scott Benjamin

With a lifetime of animal industry experience, Scott has been actively involved with the Arabian breed for nearly 30 years. Scott earned a Bachelors Degree in Animal Science from Michigan State University specializing in Equine Management and Animal Breeding/Genetics. This pursuit led to a 5-month “work and learn” internship experience at the State Studs of Poland. Following the successful defense of the thesis “The Philosophy of Arabian Horse Breeding in Poland”, Scott returned to work for Michałów State Stud (450 Arabian horses) as a training and breeding specialist. Experience gained during this tenure encompassed: training specialist - international halter horses (significant titles earned all major European shows), sale horses (numerous auction topping sellers), and race horses (several principal Stakes winners and Race Stable of The Year honors earned); breeding specialist - broodmare, foal & weanling management (120 foals born & 150+ mares bred annually), breeding stock selection (for semi-annual inclusion into the overall breeding program as well as show and sale horse selection) and annual mating decisions; and international liaison – worked with Polish Ministry of Agriculture in promoting the Polish Arabian Horse through published articles, the organization of international show and sales events, and serving as translator/coordinator for several foreign visits by buyers, enthusiasts and dignitaries. Professionally, Scott has worked as a trainer and manager for the some of the leading Arabian horse farms including Bishop Lane Farm (California), Cre-Run (Virginia), Toskhara Arabians (UK & Texas), and Blommerod Stud (Sweden). Most recently, Scott served as Director of Aria International, an Arabian horse breeding and marketing firm with several significant achievements in the show ring and marketplace.  He has been actively involved as a judge in events in the US, Canada, Middle East, Australia, South America, Africa and Europe.  Scott has, in addition to his professional and judging responsibilities, also serves as show manager for the Arabian Breeders World Cup in Las Vegas, as well as event coordinator for Polish Arabian Horse Days in Poland each August.  Scott is currently Director of Benjamin Equine, an Equine Consultancy based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, where he lives with his family.
